Credit repair?
Recently I viewed my credit report online. I decided to dispute some of the potentially negative accounts. I did this through experian. They "deleted" or removed some of them off. Some were updated, and others remained. Once they are removed are they gone for good???

- I would say so, but please don;t quote me on it. Either way, if your credit is still a problem, the quickest way I found to repair it was to get a credit card. Buy 1 item on it.... say for £50. Then pay it off in a week. Once done, cut up your card so you cannot use it again. If you have a credit card in your name, and has a history (the item you have bought and paid off) then it will give you some serious high ratings. The credit union (equifax) do not know you have cut it up... to them, you have a credit card that you always pay off. Worked well for me.
- Not necessarily
- Once an item is removed from the credit report the Fair Credit Billing Act moves into effect. Just like the bureaus have 30 days to verify a debt or remove it, the FCBA begins another 30 day period where creditors have that time to verify the debt and provide proof to the credit bureaus. Then, by law, the bureaus have one week to send you a letter advising you that it has been put back on. If the above criteria are not met, the trade line is removed from your report forever. edit- Also, don't ever dispute online. The check box that you checked signed away your rights under the FCRA. It says that you may not dispute the item again without further proof. That is NOT the protection laid out for you in the FCRA. Always dispute by mail. Just FYI.
- MphsBlue is very correct, but I have dealt with clients who have disputed this got it corrected and in 6 months its back. So we advise that you check your report every 6 months.
