  1. Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later. 3. Yes it is legal. The confusion around this subject is because "accurate information" is only accurate if it is verified as so. You have the right to question the accuracy of anything that is on your credit. If you do question the accuracy of an item the credit bureau by law must look into and verify the information. If they are unable or unmotivated to verify the item is accurate it will be removed. Credit repair services send these letters for you repeatedly. The sheer repetition of their process is a big part of why they get results. They are like little defense attorneys filing motions on behalf of your credit. You can also do this yourself if you choose. There is more detail and a better explanation of the whole process here. http://www.credit-info-site.com/creditrepairservice.html

  5. It depends what you mean. For someone to offer to "fix" your credit for a price, that's illegal. its possible to clean it by removing false items if there are any and getting current on your accounts. Also, a good resource is... http://debt.123thebest.info/credit_card.html Good Luck.
