Has anyone used a credit repair service?

Are those companies that promise to improve your FICO score by as much as 200 points really legit?

  1. I have never used a credit service but know that many are not legit. My best advice would be to go to www.clarkhoward.com and post your question there. Clark can tell you which ones are or are not legit. Good Luck!!!
  2. My in-laws use Debt Relief, USA Inc. They haven't really taken care of everything. They tend to lose records and it turns out that the agreement that they both signed is only taking care of His debt and not hers! So 3 years into it, they are finding themselves in even worse situation. I would personally recommend just taking out a loan for something or getting a credit card to practice with. Pay the loan on time, or off early. Keep the credit card balance low--use it for those cash purchases you make often--like gas. Then 'deduct' it from your bank account. When you receive the statement, just pay it off with the amount that you 'deducted' from your bank account that way you pay it all off every month. Building credit takes time and there are no legit ways to jump your score. It's like me saying that I can double your money overnight! Be smart! and good for you for asking.
  3. Please, get a brain. You can do it yourself! No, all you have to do is get a credit card , charge 1 time pay it back , and then wait your score goes up.
  4. Credit repair services are a hoax. Avoid them. Also, a good resource is... http://www.safelinked.info/jump.php?link=debt Take care.
