  1. You will know whether Lexington law Firm was a good, or bad, idea when you receive their bill. I don't see how they could do anything you couldn't do yourself. Credit reporting agencies are required to investigate items that you dispute, and you don't need a lawyer to do it. If you will read your credit card agreement, it tells you how to dispute any charges that you didn't make on your credit card. They usually give you 30 days to dispute the charges, IN WRITING. They work with YOU and against the company or person who made the unauthorized charges. Read your agreement carefully; you can do it online, and you will understand how easy it is.
  2. You are wasting your money paying Lexington to dispute items on your credit file. There is absolutely nothing they can do that you can't do yourself. There's no trick or special letter. If there are derogatory items on your credit file that are not yours, you should send the credit bureau a dispute. Items that are legit are going to stay on your report for 7-1/2 years from the date of first defeciency whether you pay them or not. Do you have settlement agreements with those collection agencies that you are paying off debts with? And I hope you have not given them direct access to your bank account. I don't understand why you would open 3 secured credit cards. It would have been much smarter to just open one secured card. Use it and pay it off in full every month. Then in 6 months to a year, open a regular major credit card. Use it and pay in full every month. In addition to the deposit money they hold as collateral, secured cards tend to have annual and/or monthly fees. Those are not the kind of credit cards you want to keep. You cannot fix screwed up credit overnight. It talkes time. You will need at least 24 months of consistent,on time payment history to see any real improvement in your score.
  3. It's true that a firm like Lexington Law doesn't do anything you couldn't do yourself...BUT, ask yourself if you have the time or patience to send letter after letter disputing some of the negative marks on your credit. My husband and I also hired a credit repair firm simply because the disputing process (for me) was confusing and distressing. Yes, we could have done it ourselves if we had the time and patience, but we chose to pay someone else to do it. So, it really depends on your situation. Good luck!
