credit repair company,or dilligence?

Im working on repairing my credit score from a 566 to at least a 650 or above. Ive given myself two years to do this. I dont have much debt reported at all ($6700) no credit card debt or bankruptcy, basically no credit whatsoever. Im wondering if i should hire a company or attempt it myself?

  1. Do it yourself. It well cost you more if you hire someone else to do it. Sit down figure out a budget on how much you can pay each creditor or if you can the smaller one if you can pay off first right. Then contact each creditor asking them to work with you and what you can afford to pay each month. The ones you think you can pay off right away. Ask them what they will take. You might be surprise how much you might be able to save. Good luck...
  2. It depends how much is your time worth. I had a credit score of around 530 and tried to repair it myself. I found myself running around sending certified this and that, calling, arguing with creditors, and getting absolutly no where even though I did everything by the book. I finally decided to seek some help. I used lexington law to help me. It has been one year and they have raised my credit scores to around 650 so far, but it does take time. I liked them because I could pay month to month and cancel it anytime although I have been happy with the service and do not plan to cancel it anytime soon. I am not saying you should use them or not but for me I wish I had done it sooner. It is nice to have someone on your side doing all the work. Good luck and remember time is the main factor in improving your score. make your payments on time and the other will go away and affect your score much less over time. to date LL has been able to completley remove about 10 medical collections from my reports so I am not complaining at all it just depends on you personal preferance for me I needed help.
  3. I don't get it. What are you trying to repair? Credit repair companies can't really do anything and are a scam. Your credit score is based on your credit history. It sounds like you just don't have a lot of credit history. For example, the score formula can't give you points for being responsible and making regular payments on a mortgage if you don't have a mortgage.
  4. Hi, It's good to know that you're into repairing your credit. Since you've been trying for the past 2 years, what's your score like now? You don't seem to have too much of debts, so I suggest that you need not hire a company. Rather you can improve the credit score yourself. Just check out the Credit Repair Tool at http://www.mortgagefit.com/calculators/credit-repair.html and try to follow the steps given there.
